Product connects well as described. Turn it on and even our Beagle inside of the house runs for the hills. Just don't connect it to a ShopVac.Bosch should porvide a disclaimer NOT to be used on a ShopVac. Sounded like a great product to hook up a small hose to my Bosch sanders. But when connected to my 6.5 HP ShopVac it creates such a LOUD high pitch it is just beyond any hope of using, even with highend ear protection.
I called Bosch and said that some of them do this and I should return it. Beware of this product. I called Bosch again and they admitted that it won't work with an more powerful Shop Vac. I did so and hooked up the second Vac001 to my Shop vac and had the same results. I purchase the Vac001 to use with my Bosch detail sander and orbital sander. I hooked it up to my 6.5 HP shop vac and it screamed like a banshee.
Even with ear plugs the noise makes me cringe. This product would be great if it didn't make a heinous squeal when it was being used. DO NOT BUY. This item is garbage. I figured i wouldn't read the reviews because it was a Bosch product and it was something simple like a hose and a few fittings. What could go wrong.
Also the hose is stiff and inflexible. Seems that the corrugations in the hose cause the problem. I'm returning it. This hose fit all that they claim it does but when using it with a vacuum cleaner it screams so loud at the tool end that I have to put on hearing protection. This happens even when not connected to a tool and when the adapter is pulled out of the hose.
I tried varying the flow and it seems like any flow will cause the noise, but certainly more flow causes more noise. Anyways, got the hose and hooked it up. The search continues. I then purchased a vacuum hose from McMaster which had a spiral but it is too rigid which makes it hard to sand for several hours.
We have a lot of dust and I've been trying to find a solution to minimize dust. Too bad, the hose had the perfect weight and feel and seemed rigid enough. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1AEVCWIOYRW7R I thought this hose was exactly what I was looking for. It was small in diameter and built for Bosch. Turned it on and the hose started squealing very load. Spiral corrugations allow the air to flow in a spiral fashion and will not create the high pitch vibration.
Conclusion, when buying a hose for vacuums, make sure the corrugations spiral. What a dumb thing for Bosch to do. Basically any air flow through the hose will cause this high pitch squeal. They must be using a very low flow set up. It is resonating due to the corrugations in the hose. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. I have a shop and we use Bosch's orbital sanders (Bosch ROS20VSK) which I love.
I even tried my shop vac and the same thing. Basically I determined that a vacuum hose cannot have circular corrugations, it must be spiral. I found a used Dyson which is perfect for this application. This happened to me before when I bought a hose from home depot.
