What Customers Say About Bosch VAC001 19mm-by-15-Foot Friction Fit Hose:

Make sure you buy a dust mask if you use this product you'll need it. Then I purchased this hose and have been totally disappointed. The end fittings of the hose fit my vacuum and sander very well so I'm considering removing them and attaching them to a standard size vacuum hose. I'm not sure this extremely thin and long hose produces enough suction to pick up any sawdust. I was using duct tape to connect my Rigid vacuum hose directly to the output of my Bosch sander and the vacuum was so strong I had to pull the sander off the wood.

My fellow shopmates also find them the vacuum hose of choice when sanding. It was meant for sander ops and limited applications. The hoses are being used for jobs for which they were not designed.

Their design and flexibility do not impair the sanding operation by getting in you way, and I hate fighting with all kinds of hoses. I will say that over time, the tool connector end may develop cracks, but they are made of plastic and we're talking lots of use. Don't expect this hose to handle all of the vac needs in your shop.

I will start by saying that the negative reviews here are off base. The hoose are extremely flexible, lightweight and stay connected to the vac source and tool. Well worth the money.

I have been using these Bosch hoses for sanding operations both at home and at work for the past 12 years. I also use the hose for biscuit joining operations, and if connected to an adequate vac source, they work great.

15-ft long sounds great. I bought it to use it with a Bosch 1294VSK Corner Detail Sander (that I already bought) and a Bosch 6" random orbital sander (that I will order). I used it for an hour and the hose didn't come loose. But I cannot give it a high mark for the following two reasons:1. Still, I probably will like it better if it is only 5-ft long.

May be the suction is still good even though the air flow is low. I don't know because I am not an expert in this area. Having said this, I can use it to sand and still keep the dusts in the air to the minimum when I was using it with my Dewalt sander (with my hand holding on with the connection). Moreover, the diameter of this hose is very short; this probably also reduces the air flow.

For example, it doesn't work with my Dewalt 5" random orbital sander. I think the combined length of the shop vac hose and this 15-ft hose may be just too long and creating too much friction for air flow. It works fine with the corner detail sander. But when it is connected to the hose end of my shop vac, the air flow seems to be quite low.

I probably can make them work together using a duct tape or something, or probably not.2. It doesn't work with other non-Bosch tools. I ended up using my hand to hold on with the connection.

It is designed specifically to hook up to Bosch sanders without having to use the VAC002 adaptor to a 1 1/4" hose. To make it big, heavy and reinforced would defeat it's purpose.

At 15 ft long you have enough hose and it has a 2 1/4 male end that attaches right to your shop vac. It makes sanding much easier.

It seems some of the reviewers are confused as to the purpose of this hose. And it slides right on to the port on the 3x21 belt sander. It has been made light so you can easily sand with it.

For use specifically with Bosch sanders (or maybe some other European stuff with the same size sander pickup) I recomend it highly. It is not a general purpose shop vac hose.

I use it on the RS006 adaptor which replaces the canister on the 1295 and 1293.

So, just to be clear, this hose is really not meant for all-around general vacuuming jobs, and for this purpose, I think you'd be disappointed. For me, it works wonderfully with my Bosch 1/4 sheet sander. It was about as easy as sanding with something as big and heavy as a circular saw. With this hose, I can pick the sander up with one hand, and maneuver it around effortlessly.

And for fine sanding, I would also recommend picking up a disposable drywall bag for your shop-vac too - it will totally eliminate dust clouds coming out of your shop-vac. Sanding is light and controlled, and most of all - clean.

This hose is exactly what I was looking for. I tried using a regular shop-vac hose along with some adapters, but there was probably one foot of fittings hanging off the end of my sander, and it could only be held with two hands.

Shop Vac Drywall Bag, 10, 12 and 14 GalFYI - this hose should fit most ShopVac brand vacs, but will NOT fit "Ridgid" brand vacs. Some of the other reviewers perhaps were not using this hose for it primary intended use:If you look nearer towards the top of this page, you'll see a section titled: "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought." Looking here, you'll really see what this hose is for: sanding.

Basically, the hose is very lightweight and flexible.
